As a public speaker, I strive to communicate the humbling, hilarious, and occasionally revolting truths that are at the core of authentic alpine adventures. Past clients include: The Mount Washington Valley Ice Festival, The Keene Valley Ice Festival, Dartmouth College, Brandeis University, Colby College, The Bear’s Tooth Theatre, Edinbourough University, Lyme Elementary School, and Memorial Middle School.  For adult and youth audiences, I offer two different presentations.

A Year In The Trenches

Follow Freddie througb a year of his schizophrenic life as a climber, guide, would-be homesteader, volunteer rescue team member and hopelessly addicted adventurer. Offering a refreshing mix of tales from New England to the Alaska, Patagonia, and the Himalayas, from cutting edge alpine climbs to unexpected backyard epics, this quick-witted show is a reminder that true adventure can be found anywhere . I am currently scheduling dates for a fall tour around the Northeast. Contact me for more information.

High Adventure:

I occasionally do presentations about outdoor adventure for  elementary and middle-school age children.  Each program is a mix of a brief slideshow, equipment show-and-tell (extremely popular), and short lessons in math (the physics of falling), social science (the history of the Himalayas) and creative writing (how to keep an explorer’s journal). Please contact me if you are interested in hearing more.
